Shloka:
यो ध्रुवाणि परित्यज्य अध्रुवाणि निषेवते।
ध्रुवाणि तस्य नश्यन्ति अध्रुवं नष्टमेव हि।।
अर्थात्:
जो निश्चित (कार्य/वस्तु) को छोड कर अनिश्चित के पीछे भागता है, उसका निश्चित नष्ट हो जाता है, अनिश्चित तो अप्राप्य ही है ।
Meaning:
One who pursues what is uncertain ignoring what is certain, loses the certain while the uncertain is lost [to him] already.
